In the beginning, there were three, then four total, that made up the original SWAMP Brigade. In the 1980's and very early 1990's, E. Tomlin, C. Sewell, J. Harris, and B. Allen were involved in mission planning and OPS under the Swamp Brigade name, and spent hundreds, if not thousands, of hours in the woods of SE Georgia, mainly in the Satilla River area. Traversing the woods and wetlands, the missions were always the same: see how close you could get to an objective without being seen. It was our practice to never harm or destroy any thing other than a few trees for forts or a campfire. Realistic clothing, equipment, and recon missions were the norm. Highschool came, and 'playing Army' went by the wayside. Three of the original four joined the military, with J. Harris becoming a US Army Cavalry Scout who was stationed in Korea for one year as part of his service to our country.
Now, many years later, the sport of airsoft and the excitement of military tactical operations simulation has been married together to form what has been a very popular group activity of forming military teams using airsoft equipment to carry out typical military operations for fun and education. If you do a simple search on the internet for "airsoft club," you will see that it is very popular around the world, with many clubs operating real vehicles on very large fields with hundreds of people attending their events.
Currently, the SWAMP Brigade has been brought back by the original founding member plus many others from the SBC Youthgroup, and its purpose is to have fun learning and acting out military operations with a Christian attitude.
